Release Notes

This is an iteration based on feedback from users of the first version of RepairTasks.
In particular, it:
  • Adds support for taking backups of the current state of the task definition files
  • Tightens error handling to avoid unexpected crashes and leave the existing state unchanged if repairs fail
  • Improves reporting of the results of a Repair run

Reviews for this release

I too upgraded to Windows 10 and rolled back to Windows 7 only to find that the task scheduler was scrambled which unsurprisingly amongst other shortcomings meant my Norton 360 was not doing much. I searched all over the place and in several forums for an answer without luck until I sort of stumbled upon CodePlex. This has resolved my problem completely. A very big thank you! One point may bear a little elaboration in the documentation. My first run repaired all but 5 of the 54 keys. Those five I imported from the downloaded Windows 7 tasks but I had difficulty accessing the unzipped file and only succeeded in getting to them by extracting the sub-folders Microsoft and WMD and putting them in the same folder as the repair programme. Just a path problem. Thanks again for sparing me a lot of grief and strife Avenmarg

I agree, this area is causing problems. I have tried to make things significantly simpler in version 3.1. Dijji

I registered an account just to thank you for having this handy tool available for my ill-fated attempt to try out Window 10. As soon as I find out there are no replacement product to Window Media Center to record my football games OTA I rolled back to Window 7, only to be inundated with this Task errors that everybody else are experiencing. But you save the day for me! Thanks!

This fixed MANY of my problems after reverting to Win7Pro from 10, but still have 5 stubborn problems with Tasks that won't 'fix' while running this excellent code in admin mode. Here's the ones that won't fix: Task image corrupt: Microsoft\Windows\PerfTrack\BackgroundConfigSurveyor Task image corrupt: Microsoft\Windows\RAC\RacTask Task image corrupt: Microsoft\Windows\Shell\WindowsParentalControls Task image corrupt: Microsoft\Windows\Tcpip\IpAddressConflict1 Task image corrupt: Microsoft\Windows\Tcpip\IpAddressConflict2 Scan completed: 5 problems found

Happily, the technique given towards the end of the Documentation page successfully repaired all of the five remaining tasks (see the parallel Discussion)

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you. After installing Windows 10 and removing it because things seemed glitch filled I kept getting the error warning "The task image is corrupt or has been tampered with 0x80041321" and I could not back up my computer. I trawled the web for help and ideas but most advice didn't help at all or was far too complicated for me to follow, but this seems to have worked and my computer is backing up as I write this review. I'm not very computer savvy and I am so glad there are people like yourselves, who go out of their way to help others. Thanks again
